Mobile Office With All The Gismos
The Age
Tuesday May 27, 2008
We're used to the idea of a mobile phone. How about an entire mobile office? Melbourne-based company Gizmosis is offering a bundled service that installs an Infill G4 Windows XP computer and communications system into a car.
The technology integrates with wi-fi, 3G and Bluetooth networks. In addition to standard features including GPS navigation and hands-free telephony, it can be used to read emails and documents, can store up to 10,000 songs on its hard drive and play CDs and DVDs - all from a touch-pad built into the dashboard.According to the company's chief executive, Alex Kain, the concept is catching on with groups including car enthusiasts, four-wheel-drivers, technology buffs and mobile sales and support people. The basic Gizmosis fit-out is $2995, he says, plus installation. Mr Kain says his company plans to integrate more technologies and services into the package. "We will be integrating with the live traffic information into the navigation as well as more sophisticated voice-control over a greater number of functions."
